If your host doesn’t provide you with cPanel, you will need to look at Manual WordPress Installation.

Here is a Step-by-Step to install WordPress with cPanel

1. Log into your cPanel account and look for a Fantastico Icon (Smiley Face) and click on it

2. In Fantastico Navigation Menu click WordPress

3. Choose New Installation

4. Choose on which Domain you wish to Install WordPress. Unless you have subdomain, there should only be one Domain (www.yourdomain.com). If you have Subdomains registered, then you just choose the one you wish to Install WordPress on. Install in directory – leave empty unless you already have WordPress installed on your domain and you want to add a new WordPress directory, for example www.yourdomain.com/blog, just enter blog in the empty space without the “/”. Admin access data – these are you log in details. Base configuration – Choose your admin nickname, e-mail address, site name, description of your site and now Install WordPress.

5. Finish Installation. Fantastico will create a brand new database for you and create the necessary WordPress files.

6. In case you didn’t write down the admin details, fill in your e-mail address and the details of the WordPress Installation will be e-mailed to you.

7. Go to your Domain. You should have your WordPress Installed now with a default WordPress theme.

In saying that, you do need to ensure that you have a basic understanding of SEO or installing a huge range of SEO Plugins will bear no fruit in terms of enhancing your site’s search engine position.

To get started with improving your site’s search engine performance you will need to work beforehand on getting your site set up correctly. The prior work you do is key to successful SEO enhancement.

Here are some of the key steps you need to take:

1. Keyword research is critical. Endeavour to find keywords which have a good search volume but at the same time are not highly competitive in nature. By choosing too highly competitive keywords you will notice that your site will be in direct competition with well established sites who dominate the market for those particular keywords. Many of those sites will have good page ranking backlinks so you will find it very difficult to rank your site well.
2. The domain name you use for your site is integral. SEO practice requires choosing a domain name with the main keyword at the start or near the start.
3. When you have got your WordPress site live you need to ensure that you choose a theme that is well designed for SEO.
4. Ensure that the Permalinks are set to Post Name where the page and title appear in the url.

An important SEO Plugin to install is the “All In One SEO Pack.” This can assist in efficiently adding your titles, descriptions and keywords very quickly.

You will find many other Plugins. Some more useful than others. The essential aspect of SEO enhancement in your WordPress site is to build valuable content which is unique.

Build the content around the keywords and ensure your pages and posts are written in way which are search engine friendly. The search engines need to be able to ascertain the relevancy and that your content is written essentially for your visitors.

Get all this right and you should start to reap the powerful rewards of WordPress SEO results

WordPress is a very popular script that is used to make blog or websites on the internet. This system was recently upgraded to version 3.0. Find out what new features you have to look forward to in this huge upgrade to this system.

First of all, there is a new default template. The old one wasn’t very exciting at all and was used in many versions of WordPress for a number of years. The new template is called Twenty Ten. It’s a simple template that looks nice and takes advantage of the newest features in the system. It’s good enough that you can use this as your blog’s theme and still have it look nice.

There are sections that you can upload your own header and background images for this theme as well as other themes that use this same functionality. You can be using the default theme and still make it look like your own.

There is a system to customize menus. This way you can have multiple menus for your site so that every page on the site can have different menus giving you some more flexibility.

There are customized types of post that you can make for your site. You are no longer locked into just posts or pages. You can make your own new type of post for you site. This makes WordPress work like other more complex content management systems.

There is a shortlink feature that helps you shorten your URLs. This is useful when you want to share your content on services like Twitter.

You get a different administration panel with WordPress 3.0. It’s a bit easier on the eyes and more organized.

There is improved security with this new version. It’s best to always have the most up to date version of WordPress to prevent it from being hacked.

Serious Internet marketers soon discovered that Word Press was more than just a blogging tool. It has become much more than a powerful website content management system (CMS). It can be used to build very profitable webpages. With it, internet marketers can manage large amounts of text, audio and video content making Word Press a very powerful business tool.

Using premium Word Press tools you can easily create an article directory, a membership site system, a complete e-commerce site, auction sites, portfolio sites, and much more. You can transform a static website. You can use it to create just about anything.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is another important element. By default, WordPress is very good at optimizing and creating SEO friendly content. However, by utilizing a simple plug-in you can increase and maximize your MSN, Yahoo, and Google SEO rankings. Because of its potentially dynamic content, search engines seem to rate webpages and websites with changing content higher than static pages and sites.

WordPress is very flexible. You can easily switch between its themes and you can improve its functions by using plug-ins and even add some custom programming. Best of all its free!

Packet Publishing is one of the top publishers in the world, which specializes in open source technologies and CMS development. It has hundreds of books on CMS systems such as WordPress, Drupal, Elgg, and more. WordPress Plugin Development is its latest effort to reach out and educate the OPS community on how to develop WP plugins.

This is a practical book that teaches you how to write enhancements for this platform by showing you real examples. You don’t just get snippets here or there. You get the whole script, and you are walked through the process as well. If you prefer a hands-on approach, you can start writing your own enhancements in no time. As long as you know what you are doing in PHP, you should be fine.

Creating CMS add-on is more than just writing the code. You also want to think about security, deployment, and compatibility issues. WordPress Plugin Development teaches you how to:

* Master the WordPress code-base, WP’s plug-in architecture, and the application programming interface (API).
* Manipulate data, handle user roles and permissions, and posts.
* Use actions and filters to write more sophisticated code.
* Customize menus, sub-menus, and the plug-in admin panel.
* Use AJAX and jQuery to write more dynamic plug-ins.
* Integrate your plug-in with panels and the tinyMCE editor
* Work with third-party APIs such as Flicker or Digg API
* Localize your installation.
* Publish your word to WP-Plugin Repository
* Create safe WP-plugins to protect the users against hackers.

The author walks you through the process of creating a simple solution for your CMS. The script gets complicated as you delve deeper and in the end you learn how to develop secure code that takes advantage of everything the platform has to offer. If you know PHP but are eager to use your programming background to develop complex solutions for this platform, you should consider reading this book.

First and foremost, 2.8 is way faster to use. They’ve changed the way WordPress does style and scripting.

The core and plug in updaters in previous versions of WordPress have been such a success they decided to bring the same to themes. You can now browse the entire theme directory and install a theme with one click from the comfort of your WordPress dashboard.

If you make edits or tweaks to themes or plug ins from your dashboard, you’ll appreciate the new CodePress editor which gives syntax highlighting to the previously-plain editor. Also there is now contextual documentation for the functions in the file you’re editing linked right below the editor.

If you were ever frustrated with widgets before, this release should be your savior. they’ve completely redesigned the widgets interface (which they didn’t have time to in 2.7) to allow you to do things like edit widgets on the fly, have multiple copies of the same widget, drag and drop widgets between sidebars, and save inactive widgets so you don’t lose all your settings. Developers now have access to a much cleaner and robust API for creating widgets as well.

Finally you should explore the new Screen Options on every page. It’s the tab in the top right. Now, for example, if you have a wide monitor you could set up your dashboard to have four columns of widgets instead of the two it has by default. On other pages you can change how many items show per page.

Installing WordPress themes is a very simple task that is often made to appear very difficult. It can be a major cause of problems for beginners who are seeking ways of making custom settings on their websites. A default style is very annoying since it does not reflect your personal taste.

The first thing to do is downloading and unzipping the theme file that interests you. The second thing is uploading the theme and the final step is activating it. WordPress theme files come in zipped format. A zip file is one that allows you to store files with the same formats together such that they can be referred to easily. The resulting file becomes smaller and is easier to download.

To download the zipped files, just click on the word ‘download now’. You will be prompted to save the files at a position where you can easily access them. Once the WordPress themes files have been downloaded, they need to be unzipped or decompressed. This converts them into normal files that are ready for use.

The matter of whether you need unzipping software for your WordPress theme depends on the type of the computer that you are using. All recent computers that operate on windows have no problem handling this software. When you have unzipped the theme, you just upload it onto your website. There are many ways through which you can do this. One of the ways is through FTP, a term which means File Transfer Protocol.

To have access to your FTP, you need to have a username as well as a password. Your web host provides you with this information. These details also enable you to access your website directory. FTP client is what you need before you can start off. FileZilla is the client for Windows. The newly obtained FTP software ought to be installed after which a new connection should be opened. Then enter the address given by the web host.

It will not take long before you are connected with your website as well as your directory listing. Navigate through the website until you locate WordPress, the ultimate destination for your WordPress theme. The position varies depending on the web host. Normally it is found inside a directory which is known as “public html”. Then navigate through WordPress until you locate plugins.

Having done this, you can now upload the theme. Remember that you are required to upload both the theme directory and the files. Be aware of certain unzip applications begging to be uploaded which are not appropriate for uploading. Bold for instance represents a file that is meant for uploading. Files that are not meant for uploading can cause the greatest problem to users since it is difficult to set them apart from other types of files.

Guangzhou/style.css is one very common file that presents itself but which should not be installed. Once you have installed the theme, it is not ready for use until you activate it. The WordPress themes Activation stage is very simple. Log in to the administration panel of your WordPress and finish the activation.

If you are all geared up to launch a site but are unsure which format would suit you best since there are so many systems to choose from, then you could try using a WordPress host. WordPress is not only utilized as a blogging community for which it is widely known, but it can have many uses too. WordPress can be fine-tuned to create web sites or Content Management System (CMS), which has more than a few inbuilt advantages:

Creating a WordPress site is simple, especially if you have fantastico in your website’s cpanel with a few mouse clicks you’ll have your WordPress site online. Manual set up of your WordPress website can be done easily if you do not have fantastico website hosting installed. This takes little more time but if you simply follow the instructions you should all set in no time. If you are uncomfortable with either of those options you can always pay someone to do it for you. It won’t be pricey to have it done for you as it doesn’t take a long time for someone who has set-up a WordPress website before.

Remodelling a website designed by someone else can be painstaking and costly for the site owner as you have to source and pay a web designer, wait for them to get back to you and finally get the job done. Using a system like WordPress is much more intuitive and simpler to come to terms with. All WordPress web site updates can be applied in real time as you can amend your own website quickly appose to waiting for the Webmaster to get back to you.

Another benefit of using WordPress, people can instantly access your RSS Feeds, when you make a web site using WordPress. Your readers will be able to sign-up to the Really Simple Syndication feed and receive updates regarding any new content that you might add. This is a good way to pull meaningful readers to your blog.
